New Orleans Fried Chicken #SundaySupper

By FamilyFoodie 48 Comments

I will never forget the first time I visited New Orleans. I had heard so many things about this great city and couldn’t wait to eat my way through our long weekend. This was especially true since I was eight months pregnant with Riley. The funny thing is, it wasn’t the jambalaya or even the beignets that left a memorable impression on me. It was their fried chicken. I can still remember just how crispy and flavorful it was.

I was thrilled when I received this months #BeshBox by Chef John Besh and it included the recipe for his New Orleans Fried Chicken. The anticipation was killing me as I was frying the chicken. Could this recipe really resemble the one that I remember from 12 years ago? I don’t know that it was exactly how I remembered it to be but it was pretty darn close — maybe even better.

Even though I do not get to enjoy fried chicken too much, as I have to fine tune my nutrition so much to peak my training for the races that matter, I do LOVE it. This would be a wonderful recipe to try! So many other good links too! Thanks for sharing!!

I hardly ever fry at home but when I do, fried chicken is one of my favorites, Isabel. It’s been one of my life’s ambitions to match my grandmother’s recipe. I get close but mine’s never quite as delicious as hers was. Perhaps I need to try Chef John Besh’s next time! It looks perfectly, wonderfully crispy!
