Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I can honestly say that I have paid very little attention to Valentine’s Day over the past twenty years. Let’s face it, when you have four children, your priorities shift and we were busy, — raising kids, going to cheerleading, dance, football and basketball practice — it left little time for planning a favorite Valentine’s Dinner for two. Most of my meals were focused around meals that were economical, nutritious and easy to make for a family of six.
The kids are getting older, and Ron and I have recently started enjoying dinner focused on options that we enjoy. One of those foods is crab. Living in Florida, we have access to great seafood and crabs, and it is truly a meal that we enjoy. While the entire family enjoys Snow Crabs, I thought Valentine’s Day was the perfect time to try Drunken Snow Crabs for two.

This recipe was inspired by a recipe that I tried from one of Emeril Legasse’s cooksbooks, years ago. You all know how much I love Emeril and his recipes show up at our home time and time again — throw in your favorite bottle of wine and my favorite flan for dessert and you are all set for Valentine’s Day!

Ingredients
- 3 bottles premium ale - I used Corona
- 3 lemons, cut in 1/2
- 6 green onions
- 2 pounds Snow Crab Legs
- Drawn butter, for serving
Instructions
- Add beer, lemons and green onions to a large stock pot and bring to a boil.
- Add crab legs and cover.
- Steam for 5 minutes or until crab is cooked through.
- Serve with drawn butter.
It is such an honor to have Susan from The Girl in the Little Red Kitchen hosting this fabulous event. For someone who rarely cooks for just two — I can’t wait to try some of these Valentine’s Day Recipes.

February 9, 2014 at 12:26 pmI’m so jealous of all the great seafood you can get your hands on! We have to go on vacation to get crab legs this good. I think I’m going to have to shell out some moolah to make these before our next vacation though!

February 9, 2014 at 1:17 pmI like this Valentine’s Day recipe because it’s quick and easy. Looks like it’s an easy clean up too. By the way, how long does snow crab season last where you live? Out here, we get Dungeness and it’s at it’s peak in December each year.

February 9, 2014 at 5:11 pmI do love crab! I would have to make an alcohol free version of this, but hey, any way you do crab is OK by me! I totally agree with you about how busy it gets when kids are in the picture. Romantic holidays like VDay and anniversarys just seem to slip by with a little less celebration than I would like. But it’s good to take time to enjoy some romance, even with young kids around! Thanks so much for sharing – and for all you do! Happy VDay & HUGS!
