I have to be honest with you about this week’s Sunday Supper event, Valentine’s Day is not a big deal in our home. What we usually do is cook something together that the whole family loves. Something that is a little more time consuming than normal BUT totally worth it. One of our absolute favorites is Rissóis de Camarão, or Portuguese Shrimp Dumplings. No one cooks this Portuguese Recipe like Vo-Vo. We love hanging out in her kitchen and helping her cook this delicacy. We may not formally celebrate Valentine’s Day, but our days spent Around the Family Table are filled with love and memories to last a lifetime.

Ingredients
- 1 pound Shrimp, boiled
- 1 cup Water
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 Lemon peel
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 cup Milk
- juice of 1 Lemon
- 2 Eggs
- 2 cups Breadcrumbs
- Canola oil to fill frying pan
Instructions
- Boil the shrimp in water seasoned with salt and pepper for 5 minutes.
- Reserve water and peel Shrimp
- In a pot, combine cup of water, 1 tablespoons margarine, salt and lemon peel.
- Bring to boil and when it boils, remove from heat and add 1 cup of flour.
- Stir with a wooden spoon to get a ball that does not cling to the pan.
- Bring back to boil only slightly to dry the dough.
- Let the dough rest.
- Melt 1 tablespoons margarine, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of flour and cook.
- Add 1 cup of Milk and 1 cup of water from the shrimp.
- Cook on low, stirring to thicken.
- Add lemon juice and shrimp until a thick and smooth consistency.
- Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut into 4 x 6 strips.
- Place a full tablesppon of filling in the bottom half of the dough.
- Fold the dough over the filling and cut the patties in half moon a glass or pierogie cutter.
- Dip the Dumpling in beaten eggs and then in bread crumbs.
- Fry in hot oil.
- Let cool on paper towels to absorb oil.
- Enjoy this absolute delicacy!

February 10, 2013 at 4:40 amWe don’t celebrate it either, well other then sometimes having a special meal. But then hubby says most meals are pretty special in our home because of my blog so I am not sure our Valentine’s meal really stands out in his mind. But it might make it extra special with I made something as amazing sounding as these dumplings.

February 11, 2013 at 4:11 pmIt’s the same in my household, Isabel. I don’t even have kids so that’s not my excuse for staying in on Valentines. The Husband and I hate fighting crowds and overpaying for mediocre food so we just stay in and make something ourselves. These shrimp dumplings sound amazing! I love the sweet photos of your family, thanks for sharing those. We missed you this week in the Twitter chat! Hope you made it home safe ‘n sound.
