In honor of the Sandy Hook Victims #SundaySupper live chat cancelled

By FamilyFoodie 8 Comments

As a mother of four children, my heart is broken.  It is so unfathomable to think that a horrific tragedy like this could take place in this country.  I can’t imagine that there is any parent that isn’t left feeling vulnerable and wondering – how could this happen in a place where we thought our children were safest?

In honor of the Sandy Hook Victims and their families, #SundaySupper live chat scheduled for 7 pm Eastern Time will be cancelled this week.   We had our Holiday Appetizers and Cocktails Party scheduled for this week but the Sunday Supper Team felt that in honor of these families, it would be best to cancel this event.

I am once again reminded of the importance our Sunday Supper Movement.  Bringing back Sunday Supper Around the Family Table in every home week after week.  It starts off as one day a week and soon becomes a way of life.  The best gift we can give our children is the realization that life is precious, every moment is a special moment.

Let this be a time when we renew our faith in the power of love and realize the importance of time with our families.

As the Sandy Hook community and our nation grieves, organizations are setting up ways to help through donations and support.

An official fund for victims’ families, and the community as a whole, has now been established: The Sandy Hook School Support Fund, set up by the United Way of Western Connecticut will provide support services to families and the community. All donations to this fund will go directly to those affected.

The Red Cross has also been on the ground, offering food and water to first responders, and providing more than 50 units of blood to Danbury hospital where some of the victims were transported. They have set up a center for emergency grief counseling.

You can send words of support and messages for families affected in an evergram here. They will be collated and given to the families in the future.

I pray for families everywhere that no family should ever have to experience this kind of grief.
