Tate’s Bake Shop and Cookies FROM Santa

By FamilyFoodie Leave a Comment

I love companies that make a difference in the world. When I heard about Kathleen King and her mission, I wanted to share it with you one this special day, Christmas Eve. This story touched me and inspired me to set goals for 2014 that will make a difference in the lives of others.

While everybody else is leaving cookies for Santa near their softly twinkling trees, Kathleen King of Tate’s Bake Shop and four regional food banks donated more than 12,000 chocolate chip cookies to families this year. In essence, they are shaking up tradition and providing cookies FROM Santa, instead of leaving cookies FOR Santa. Tate’s Bake Shop also sent a monetary donation to help provide 17,000 meals during this holiday season.

The agencies that received these donations include not only food pantries, but also backpack programs and after school programs. Feeding South Florida, San Francisco and Marin Food Banks, Food Bank for New York City, and Los Angeles Regional Food Bank all worked with Tate’s to assure that the cookies and meals were distributed to those who were best suited for the donations.

“For me, the holidays are all about sharing and creating joy in people’s hearts,” said Kathleen King, owner of Tate’s Bake Shop. “We hope that by donating our cookies and helping to provide meals, we can bring joy to families in need. It’s our way of wishing everyone a very happy holiday.”

If you’re not familiar with Tate’s Bake Shop, it is owned and operated by Kathleen King, who began selling cookies at her family’s farm stand when she was just 11. Located in Southampton, NY, Tate’s is committed to provided classic and delicious baked goods of the highest quality, using high quality, fresh ingredients. They are best known for their crispy Chocolate Chip cookies, but also offer a full selection of cookies, bars, cakes and pies.

Tate’s Bake Shop cookies are now available in grocery stores in different parts of the country, including across the Miami area. Plus, if you can’t find Tate’s locally yet, King has 3 cookbooks – so you can try your hand at baking her delectable treats in your own kitchen. Bake up some treats for your holiday cookie tray, sweets give away this holiday season and throughout the year, or bake up your own batch of cookies for Santa.
