Remember When the World seemed to slow down on Sundays….

Family Foodie Baby Back RibsIn honor of Memorial Day, I a featuring and oldie but goodie…. our favorite recipe for Baby Back Ribs!  What are you cooking for Memorial Day?

Here is the origiinal post from August 1, 2011:

Sunday was a quiet day when all would take a deep breath, relax  and enjoy their family…

At our house, we try to make Sundays a day of rest, relaxation, worship and family. And the highlight of every Sunday is of course, our Sunday Supper.

We have a tradition…we take turns  picking the meal of the week.  This week Ronnie chose Pork Baby Back Ribs, Roasted Potatoes and Corn on the Cob.  For sure a Family Favorite all the way around!

I often ask myself.. Is it really that our Sunday Meal is that outstanding or is it just that our children look forward to the tradition we have made a Priority in Our Home?  One thing for sure… everyone is excited and hovers in the kitchen to see what the weekly creation will be.

After a couple of  bites, we Rate our Meal of the Week.  My kids love this part. We go Around the Family Table and rate our meal on a scale of 1 to 10.   Either I am the most amazing chef or they just can’t break their Mama’s heart. Either way, nothing ever seems to be  rated lower than a 7.

This week was another outstanding Dinner… The only thing that was missing was Alexandra who is at College… We miss her and can’t  wait for her to come home next weekend!  Guess who’s turn it is to pick the Sunday Meal?[print_this]

Family Foodie Baby Back Ribs

  • 4 Slabs of Pork Baby Back Ribs
  • 1/4Cup Stubbs Pork Marinade (Love this stuff)
  • 1/2 Cup BBQ Sauce
  1. Brush the Marinade on the Ribs and let sit in the Refrigerator for at least 1 hr.
  2. Place Ribs on medium hot grill and let them cook for approximately 45 mins.  Brush the Ribs with BBQ Sauce and let it slowly cook into the ribs and caramelize.  Brush more BBQ Sauce every 10 minutes for approximately 30 to 45 mins. longer.
  3. Cut in between Ribs and serve.  These are not the fall off the bone kind of ribs.  They will be meaty and juicy![/print_this]

Is Sunday Supper really about the Food we prepare or the Time we spend Around The Family Table?

Or is it the Tradition that strengthens the relationships that matter most … those that thrive in our Kitchen and create Memories to last a lifetime!

Food is Love and Love is Family!

You are correct. We have seemed to forgot about the traditional Sunday, where the family would sit down and eat together and enjoy each others company. We all should go back to that!!
