Portuguese Style Beef Lettuce Wraps are such a fun dish to share with the family. Build your own with the fillings you choose.
National #SundaySupper Month has been an absolute blast. I hope you have not only enjoyed this month but I hope you have all been inspired to spend time around the family table. It’s about so much more than just the food. Time together, planning your meals and enjoying the conversation that only great food can bring about.
This month has flown by and I am exhilarated by the hustle and bustle but mostly by your support, the recipes created and by the engagement with our audience. We have reached the highest number of followers since we initiated the Sunday Supper Movement in January of 2012. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of families.
At our house, beef is always a favorite for Sunday Supper or any night of the week. I love using lean and thinly sliced or ground beef in recipes on weeknights. It cooks up so quickly and helps me create delicious and nutritious meals for my family in a snap. This recipes is especially flavorful because of the Portuguese flavors coming together in the marinade. Once the beef hits the piping hot skillet, it is literally minutes to a complete meal. We love serving this dish as a wrap or many times serving over brown rice or quinoa.
This year, I am committing to living a Flavorful Life and serving recipes my family loves while keeping health and nutrition in mind. I couldn’t think of a better recipe to start with!

- 1 lemon,
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup peri peri (piri piri) sauce or hot sauce of choice
- 1 cup grape tomatoes, cut in half
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup radishes, thinly sliced
- 2 small heads of bibb or butter lettuce, separated
- Combine beef, garlic, paprika and bay leaf in a large bowl.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for approximately 4 hours or overnight.
- Heat a skillet on medium high and add olive oil
- Remove the bay leaf and add the marinated beef to the skillet and saute for approximately 5 minutes or until cooked
- Add the peri peri sauce and continue to cook for 5 more minutes
- Remove from heat and display to add to the lettuce wraps
- Display tomatoes, carrots, radishes and let everyone build their own lettuce wraps

January 24, 2016 at 3:49 pmThese sound really good and I love the bright colors. I put them on my menu this week for Friday but I don’t know that I’ve ever seen peri-peri sauce. Is there another sauce that comes close? Or do you have a recipe for making it from scratch?
