Italian Pizzelle Cookies

Italian Pizzelle Cookies are a wonderful tradition around the holidays! You will need an Pizzelle maker.
Ingredients
  • 1 ¾ cups of flour
  • ¾ cup of white sugar.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon of Anise Extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat the Pizzelle Press on a medium setting
  2. Sift flour and baking powder together in a bowl and set aside
  3. Mix together eggs and sugar until thickened
  4. Melt butter and add it to the egg mixture
  5. Slowly add in Anise
  6. Stir in flour mixture in thirds
  7. Using a cookie scoop, place a scoop of dough in the middle of each grid
  8. Close pizzelle press
  9. Open when light on the pizzelle press turns green
  10. Remove with a spatula to a wired rack to cool
  11. Repeat
  12. Makes 30-40 Pizzelle
  13. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, enjoy!
